Things to Do In/Near Atlantic City

  • Atlantic City Boardwalk - Four miles long, the Boardwalk runs along the shoreline and is lined with shops, bars, restaurants, the Ripley's Believe It or Not museum and amusement park-style games. An Atlantic City must see.
  • Abseson Lighthouse - Located at the northern end of the city, this lighthouse stands 171 feet high, making it the tallest of its kind in New Jersey and one of the tallest in the country. After a small hike up the 228 steps, the views from above are a major perk of visiting the lighthouse.
  • ABC Carpet & Home - Spread across multiple floors and two stores, the beautiful merchandising suggests little environments that could easily be transposed straight into a New York loft. Silk pillows, hand-blown glass, artfully scuffed French country furniture, delicate glass chandeliers—add several floors worth of exquisite rugs and floor treatments and you have the makings of a swoonworthy afternoon's shopping. The best part: They ship all around the globe!
  • Steel Pier - Steel Pier is Atlantic City's answer to Coney Island in New York. There are a variety of rides for all ages, including teacups and tiny trains for kids (and kids at heart) and more adventurous rides like the swing carousel and roller coasters for older kids and adults. The most daring visitors will get a thrill on rides like the Flyer, the MIX, or the new 227 ft tall Wheel.
  • Historic Smithville - Historic Smithville is a restored town just a 20-minute drive from Atlantic City, with a rich history that dates back to the 18th century. Stroll along the cobblestone pathways and quaint footbridges to discover different shops and eateries, which are housed in a collection of traditional and wooden clapper board-style buildings.
  • Lucy the Elephant - Few seaside attractions are as iconic as Lucy, a 65-foot, six-story-high wood and tin elephant built in the small coastal town of Margate in 1881 to attract prospective buyers to summer homes in the area. Since then, Lucy has been a tavern, a summer home, and an observation deck.
  • Atlantic City Aquarium - The Atlantic City Aquarium has many fun hands-on, interactive exhibits showcasing marine life from across the world. Highlights include sea life from the New Jersey coast, such as sea bass, sand tiger sharks, and northern stingrays to creatures from coral reefs, as well as predators.
  • AC Casinos - Atlantic City is practically synonymous with gambling. The seaside city is home to several casinos with everything from slots to table games like blackjack, roulette and poker.
  • Tanger Outlets - If you need a little retail therapy during your stay in Atlantic City, be sure to check the outlets. Tanger Outlets encompasses three city blocks in an open-air mall setting. With more than 100 stores, there is something for every shopping sensibility.
